10/1/10 09:48 pm - what up, bitch.
Hello,
rose_spunk . This is
windingarrow, hacking into your LJ account to teach you things as per your request.
You should read this entry both as it is in your journal, to see how things look, and then, for it to actually make sense, click the text that says WAIT FOR IT down there to view the entry on its own, then go to the top of the entry and click the pencil button, which is the edit entry button. Then look at all the code I used to see how I did things, which is the point of all this. I'm typing this entry as if you're viewing the "edit" part, and you can see all the editing tools and things around it.
When you're making entries, it's better to use the HTML tab up there to the right, not the rich text tab to its left. Or else they come out looking weird. So then you have to use the typical HTML tags you might (probably) already know, but I'm telling you anyway: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, changing font sizes,
centering things.
Other things are naming usernames like I did up there, with the
rose_spunk thing.
I found out how to do sparkle text here. See what I did there? In order to link to another site like that, you use: This is a link to an example website I inserted: http://simcatsubame.livejournal.com/ into the website part and "here" into the "this is a link" part. Now, in the main entry, it just says "here," and that links to that journal.
I could have also just said
simcatsubame because it's just that person's journal.
I never remember the link code and have it bookmarked so I remember. :P
So at that site, if you click "sparkle text," you'll find a million options. You just copy/paste the code of the sparkle you want and insert your own text.
ALSO, there's this thing called an "lj-cut," which is always a good idea for giant posts, posts to other communities, or to build up suspense.
What you do this type ( WAIT FOR IT )
To post entries in a community, go to the actual journal of the community and, at the top, around the bar where your name and "home," "post," etc is, you'll see something that says "post to this community," if you're a part of it. If you're not a part of it, it'll say "join" or "watch" this community, and that's how you join a community or "watch it," meaning you're not actually a member, but the posts will appear on your friends page. Or, you could go to "journal" in the top bar, then "post an entry," then where it says "post to:" at the top next to your icon, you click the arrow and it'll give you options of where you're posting to - your own journal or a community you're a part of.
Also, when you're posting entries or comments, there'll be a similar scroll down menu that allows you to pick which icon to use. Which is why, when you upload icons, you should give it a name in the "keywords" section, instead of just letting it say "pic#whatever," that'll make you remember which icon it is. AND, where it says comments, you should always credit whoever made the icon. That's the etiquette.
To "tag" entries, just type the tags you want to use in the "tags" section below. Or you can select tags from tags you already have. I think there's a limit to the number of tags you can have at one time so you shouldn't just tag every entry with a new tag to be amusing, even though funny tags rule. Also I like tags because they organize things. When you have tags, they appear as a list you can get to on your profile, and you can easily find all of the entries that have to do with that tag. Obviously, but in case you didn't knowww.
TO POST PICTURES: use photobucket. When you've uploaded a picture, use the "HTML code" one that looks like this:
I think that's pretty much it.
I LOVE YOU ♥
